A solo journey to explore middle America and the inside of my head

A blog dedicated to a 3 month sabbatical in my 30th year.  My route will follow paths less traveled; on dirt, gravel and some pavement, through mountain passes and desert.  Along the way I am hoping to experience America away from the crowds, and hopefully learn a few things about myself in the process.

I’m doing the ride in support of Beyond Blue, who provide support to individuals with anxiety and depression.  If you are keen to donate, the link is below!

  1. Dear Ross
this is Oliver + Ben! Hope you are doing fine! We are sitting at the Las Vegas Int’l Airport waiting to board our plane to Frankfurt 😦 and enjoyed reading your blog so much. So well written! So many cool adventures (we didn’t know that other people could have adventures, too ;-)! In case you should ever come to Düsseldorf, please make sure to contact us!
    Kind regards and safe travels!

    1. Hi Oliver and Ben, It was great sharing so much of the ride with you. I will definitely get in touch should I be in Germany, and equally, if you find yourself in Sydney please drop me a line. Hope your flight wasn’t too bad. Ross

  2. Hi Ross, I work with your Mum who first told me about your adventure. I’m very inspired and not a little jealous. I’m planning to do it myself now in 2019. I hope you really enjoy the last leg. I know the state and it’s a beautiful and amazing place to be. Good luck mate, stay strong.

    1. Thanks Mark! I’m approaching the last bit with caution, the roads around here can become impassable with rain, so heading out into the wild is that bit more nerve wracking! I’d thoroughly recommend doing it, definitely the best thing I’ve done.
